Is Kotoba Forge free?
Yes. The planned public release is free, with no ads and no paid account tier.
Do I need an account?
No. Learning begins locally without registration.
Can I start with zero Japanese?
Yes. The opening sequence introduces the writing system gradually and brings useful Japanese in early rather than assuming prior study.
Does it only teach travel Japanese?
No. Practical situations are part of the course, but the Path continues through vocabulary, grammar, reading, listening, writing and N5 → N4 → N3-aligned study.
Does it work offline?
The Android production build is designed to work without the Android Internet permission. Required learning content is bundled with the app.
Can I practice speaking?
Yes. Japanese audio appears throughout the course, and optional speaking practice lets you record yourself locally for your own comparison.
Is this official JLPT preparation?
No. The course is organized around N5, N4 and N3-aligned progression but is not affiliated with or endorsed by the JLPT organizers.
